Pub of Love

123 12th Ave. N
Nashville, TN 37203
615-256-5683

If you’ve ever been where real-live locals hang south of the border, you’ll be right at home at the Pub of Love. Although the feel is totally tropical, they’ve hauled in sand to cover the small courtyard in back of the pub, just in case. Inside the décor consists of sofas of every kind, a few Queen Anne chairs, fringe, avant-garde artwork on the walls, and red -- lots of it. All this is in a room not much bigger than your mother’s closet. The conversation is lively (in a place this small, eavesdropping is inevitable); the beer selection is abundant; and the people are as varied as the furniture. But, somehow it all works together, making it as it is advertised -- “Nashville’s most interesting bar.” -- Rebecca Malone Melo   (Photo: Mark Widerman)

Radio Cafe

1313 Woodland St.
Nashville, TN 37206
615-262-1766

Radio Cafe has kept its neighbors in East Nashville’s historic Edgefield district happy for several years now. The coffee shop became popular with nearby residents for its wide variety of coffee and hot or cold caffeinated specialty drinks. The popular hangout now features live music six nights a week, usually of the acoustic variety. The coffeehouse/bar also offers several domestic and imported beer selections, with Pabst Blue Ribbon available at rock bottom prices. Radio Cafe’s homemade sandwiches, soups, desserts and other specials like red beans and rice and cheese tortellini are out of this world. -- Heather Johnson   (Photo: Chris Fox)

Beer Sellar

101 Church St.
Nashville, TN 37201
615-254-9464

With a name like the Beer Sellar you don’t have to guess what this bar is all about. Should you have any doubts just walk into it, past the pool table and dart boards, and through the cigar smoke, and you’ll quickly find more beer in one spot then you’d find in all of Germany. Well, maybe not, but they do have over a hundred kinds and 50 drafts, and you’ll definitely find more variety than German. Plus you can sample specimens from unlikely places such as China or Japan -- and you thought they only drank sake. They sell beer in all shapes (draft or bottle) and sizes (pints to pitchers), and they even serve up some sandwiches and chips that will surely keep you away from the Krystal drive- thru. -- Rebecca Malone Melo   (Photo: Mark Widerman)

The Outer Limit

3758 Nolensville Road
Nashville, TN 37211
615-781-0068

The Outer Limit has gone to the ends of the world and beyond to bring all your entertainment desires under one roof. There are four bars, each with different themes to satisfy even the most experienced clubber. Life got you down? A few laughs at Coconutz Comedy Club should lift you up. Neptunes features interplanetary Top 40 dance hits where you and your first-mate can groove on the deck of a pirate ship. Pool tables, games and live music or DJs keep you rockin’ and rollin’ at Hysteria. Techno/house music is the theme for Lava Lair. Lights, lasers and unbelievable sound in a room resembling an underground dragon’s lair makes for nothing less than a volcanic experience. No doubt you’re going to get hungry -- food’s available in each room as well as in the Nexus Grill. If all this doesn’t get you out there partying, extracurricular activities include bikini contests, occasional live radio feeds and a teen night. -- Rebecca Malone Melo
